How should an Amazon seller audit Brand Registry user access?
Export or record every person and account with Brand Registry access, identify whether each relationship is a protection role or a selling role, and verify the least privilege needed for current work. Confirm at least two controlled administrators before changing or removing a critical user.
Brand Registry access and Seller Central user permissions solve different problems. Do not assume an agency's Seller Central invitation gives it brand-protection authority, or that a Brand Registry role automatically grants operational selling permissions.
Create one access register
- Record brand, trademark, marketplace, user email or account identifier, company, employment status, and business owner.
- Classify each Brand Registry relationship as Administrator, Rights Owner, Registered Agent, or the current role shown in the console.
- Record selling-role relationships separately and use the current Account ID method where Amazon requires it.
- List the exact tools each user needs, such as Report a Violation, brand analytics, A+ Content, or listing operations.
- Mark shared inboxes, departed staff, dormant agencies, duplicate identities, and users without a named sponsor.
- Capture last review date, reviewer, evidence, and the planned removal or renewal date.
Review high-risk changes in the right order
First verify the trademark owner and primary administrator. Next confirm replacement administrators, then test the replacement user's required access before removing a departing employee or service provider. Review protection roles more strictly than convenience access because they can affect enforcement actions.
For agencies, document the client, brand, scope, end date, and offboarding trigger. If an access path is unclear, pause the change and use Amazon's current role guidance rather than repeatedly inviting the same identity through different accounts.
Close the audit with controls
- Require named approval for every privileged Brand Registry role.
- Keep two controlled administrators under different accountable employees.
- Remove departed users and expired agencies only after replacement access is tested.
- Recheck Seller Central permissions independently from Brand Registry roles.
- Retain screenshots or exports of the before-and-after role state without storing passwords or session data.
- Schedule a new review after ownership, trademark, agency, or selling-account changes.
Scope and exceptions
Role names, eligibility, invitation steps, selling-role identifiers, and available tools can change by marketplace and account. A trademark dispute, ownership transfer, or locked administrator account may require support review rather than self-service removal.
