Prepare Amazon Easy Ship Capacity Before Enrolling Your Catalog

Test pickup coverage, pack time, order cutoffs, exception handling, and per-order contribution before using Amazon Easy Ship in an eligible marketplace.

When is Amazon Easy Ship a good operational fit?

Amazon Easy Ship can fit an eligible seller that wants to keep inventory and pack orders while using Amazon's pickup and delivery network. It is a good fit only when the warehouse can prepare every enrolled order before the confirmed pickup window and the resulting contribution remains positive after shipping, packaging, labor, cancellation, and exception costs.

Availability and rules vary by marketplace, location, account, category, product, size, and dangerous-goods status. Amazon's registration guidance notes that catalog enrollment can be broad while some dangerous, heavy, or bulky products may be excluded. Confirm the current account offer and product eligibility before planning a launch.

Map capacity and pickup constraints

  • List each ship-from location, pickup postcode, operating day, holiday calendar, order cutoff, and latest safe pack-complete time.
  • Measure pick, quality-check, pack, label, and staging time at normal and peak order volume.
  • Separate products needing special packaging, serial capture, hazmat review, temperature control, or additional documents.
  • Define who owns missed pickup, no-scan, damaged parcel, cancellation, failed delivery, and customer-contact exceptions.
  • Keep a fallback process for days when pickup coverage or warehouse capacity is interrupted.

Model contribution before enrollment

Calculate contribution per order using the current charges displayed for the account, packaging, labor, consumables, expected cancellations, delivery exceptions, returns, and working-capital timing. Compare the same basket under existing seller-fulfilled and FBA alternatives rather than comparing delivery charges alone.

Use product cohorts, not a catalog-wide average. A lightweight repeat-purchase item can support a different threshold from a fragile, bulky, low-margin, or high-return product.

Run a controlled readiness pilot

  • Start with a small set of stable SKUs that are easy to identify, pack, and stage.
  • Verify inventory accuracy, pickup handoff scans, label readability, promised dates, and first-attempt delivery outcomes.
  • Track late dispatch, pickup misses, cancellations, damage, returns, customer contacts, and net contribution by SKU.
  • Set stop conditions for repeated pickup failure, negative contribution, packing congestion, or ineligible-product leakage.
  • Expand only after the warehouse meets the approved service and margin thresholds across a representative peak period.

Apply eligibility and exception rules

Do not enroll restricted, dangerous, heavy, bulky, fragile, or documentation-sensitive products unless the current account workflow explicitly supports them. Keep separate procedures for orders that Amazon cannot collect, addresses outside coverage, inventory found damaged after order confirmation, and products requiring regulatory handling.

If Amazon Easy Ship is unavailable in the seller's marketplace or the account does not show the required controls, retain the existing fulfillment method. Do not infer eligibility from another marketplace's help page or another seller's account.
