How do you prepare Amazon listings for EU GPSR compliance?
Create an ASIN-level file that identifies the manufacturer, the EU Responsible Person when required, product identifiers, contact details, and applicable warning or safety information. Match that evidence to the physical product, packaging, instructions, and Amazon listing before submission.
GPSR obligations depend on the product, supply chain, and EU market. Amazon requires relevant non-food listings in EU stores to provide compliance information through its current account-health or regulatory-compliance workflow; entering a contact name alone is not a complete product-safety review.
Build a GPSR evidence register
- Record ASIN, SKU, brand, model, batch or serial identifier, product category, and destination marketplace.
- Identify the manufacturer and verify its legal name, postal address, and electronic contact details.
- Identify the EU Responsible Person when required and retain the appointment evidence.
- Map warnings, age restrictions, safety instructions, and language requirements by marketplace.
- Keep product images showing labels, identifiers, contact information, and warnings.
- Assign owners and expiry or review dates for every document and contact record.
Reconcile product, packaging, and listing
Compare the information submitted to Amazon with the product label, retail packaging, manuals, certificates, and supplier declarations. Resolve differences in model names, business identities, addresses, warning wording, and language before uploading.
Use one controlled source for manufacturer and Responsible Person data so bulk updates do not create inconsistent ASIN records. Sample the live detail page after submission and retain proof of what was displayed.
Use a pre-submission checklist
- The ASIN is correctly classified as food or non-food and mapped to the right product regulations.
- Manufacturer and Responsible Person roles are supported by current documents.
- Postal and electronic contact details match across evidence and listing fields.
- Warnings and safety information are complete for each target EU marketplace language.
- Product identifiers connect the listing to the exact physical item and batch or model.
- Rejected submissions have an owner, root cause, corrected evidence, and resubmission record.
Apply scope and role exceptions carefully
Not every product needs the same Responsible Person arrangement, warning set, or technical documents. FBA does not transfer the seller's or economic operator's product-safety responsibilities. Food, medicines, and other specially regulated categories can follow additional or different rules.
