Track FBA New Selection Benefits Without Overestimating Launch Profit

Verify product eligibility, benefit windows, inventory limits, actual credits, and post-benefit margin before relying on FBA New Selection savings.

How should you include FBA New Selection benefits in a launch model?

Include a benefit only after your account and ASIN show current eligibility, then limit it to the documented units, charges, and time window. Amazon promotes free storage and customer-return benefits through the FBA New Selection program, but a launch should not depend on a credit that has not been earned or reconciled.

Build two profit cases from the start: the eligible launch window and the steady-state period after benefits end. If the second case misses your contribution floor, the program is delaying a weak result rather than fixing it.

Create an eligibility record before sending inventory

  • Seller account, marketplace, program enrollment status, and enrollment date.
  • Parent and child ASINs, FBA newness status, category, size tier, condition, and product eligibility.
  • First inventory receipt date and the event that starts each applicable benefit window.
  • Current unit limits, time limits, covered charge types, exclusions, and country-specific rules.
  • Screenshot or export of the live program detail used for the purchasing decision.

Separate earned benefit from expected benefit

Keep three columns for every SKU: potential benefit, benefit recorded by Amazon, and benefit reconciled to a transaction or fee. Do not reduce cost of goods or permanent unit economics by the potential amount.

Map storage, return, rebate, liquidation, or other applicable benefits to the report field and accounting period where they actually appear. Escalate missing or unexpected entries with the eligibility evidence, receipt date, fee transaction, and case deadline.

Use a launch quantity that survives the downside case

  • Forecast demand without treating waived storage as permission to send excess units.
  • Include advertising, coupons, Vine, returns, inbound costs, and working capital independently of the program.
  • Model inventory that remains after the benefit window at ordinary storage and removal economics.
  • Set a reorder rule based on steady-state margin and sell-through, not the temporary launch contribution.
  • Stop or revise the offer if price, conversion, return rate, or eligibility invalidates the original case.

Close the tracker after the benefit window

Reconcile the total benefit actually received, ordinary fees avoided, extra units purchased, inventory remaining, and contribution generated. Use the net result to improve the next launch assumption instead of reporting the maximum advertised value as savings.

Benefits, enrollment, eligible ASINs, limits, windows, marketplaces, and reporting can change. Confirm the current FBA New Selection terms and account dashboard before each shipment, and use ordinary FBA economics for any unit or period not clearly covered.
