How do you recover Amazon Valid Tracking Rate?
Download the current VTR report, isolate every seller-fulfilled package marked invalid, and test four facts: the tracking ID was entered correctly, the carrier and service matched Amazon's options, shipment confirmation was timely, and Amazon received a qualifying physical carrier scan.
Amazon's US policy currently requires a VTR of at least 95% at the product-category level for seller-fulfilled orders. A delivered package can still fail VTR when the carrier name, service, tracking ID, scan event, or confirmation timing is not recognized.
Build a shipment-level exception table
- Record order ID, package ID, product category, ship-by date, confirmation time, carrier, service, tracking ID, first scan, delivery scan, and VTR result.
- Separate no tracking, mistyped tracking, mismatched carrier, unsupported service, missing first scan, late confirmation, and integration-upload errors.
- Confirm whether the package is included in the metric or qualifies for a current exemption.
- Group defects by warehouse, shipping station, carrier account, service, API or app, and operator.
- Preserve the carrier record and Amazon report before correcting data or opening an appeal.
Correct the confirmation workflow
Use the carrier and shipping service shown in Amazon's current integrated-carrier options, validate the tracking format before confirmation, and require carrier acceptance early enough to create a physical scan. Do not mark a package shipped merely because a label was printed.
For API, marketplace connector, or batch-file uploads, test field mapping, carrier codes, package splits, update timing, and retry behavior. Reconcile every upload result with Manage Orders instead of assuming the source system succeeded.
Use a daily prevention checklist
- Block shipment confirmation when the tracking ID is blank, duplicated, malformed, or assigned to another package.
- Verify carrier pickup and first-scan performance by lane and cutoff time.
- Review split shipments and multiple tracking IDs at the package level.
- Check yesterday's exceptions before volume creates a category-level pattern.
- Assign an owner for carrier disputes, integration defects, and Account Health appeals.
Apply exemptions and appeals carefully
VTR applies to seller-fulfilled packages, while FBA orders and qualifying exempt shipments follow different treatment. Seller Fulfilled Prime and premium delivery programs can have stricter tracking requirements. Confirm the current marketplace rule instead of copying a target from another region.
If Amazon data does not match carrier evidence, use the account's VTR appeal path with specific package records.
