How should an Amazon seller use Voice of the Customer?
Start with the ASINs showing the weakest customer-experience signals, read the underlying return and review evidence, and classify the problem before changing a listing or inventory plan. Protect customers first when the evidence suggests a safety, compliance, counterfeit, or repeat product defect.
Amazon describes the Voice of the Customer dashboard as a place to review customer feedback and product-performance signals, including NCX return and review rates compared with category benchmarks. Use the live dashboard rather than a copied threshold because metrics, labels, and recommended actions can change.
Build an ASIN-level evidence record
- Capture marketplace, ASIN, variation, SKU, fulfillment method, current Voice of the Customer status, measurement date, and responsible owner.
- Export or record the available NCX return rate, NCX review rate, category comparison, issue themes, customer comments, and recommended actions.
- Connect the signal to return reasons, inspection findings, lot or supplier data, packaging records, listing content, support contacts, and recent catalog changes.
- Separate a product defect from expectation, compatibility, size, setup, wrong-item, fulfillment damage, and individual preference.
- Flag missing or biased evidence; a small sample or one event should not be treated as a confirmed root cause without supporting facts.
Choose the recovery action by risk
For a credible safety, regulatory, or severe quality risk, stop normal promotion and follow the appropriate product-safety or compliance process. For expectation problems, correct the specific image, attribute, compatibility statement, instructions, or variation mapping that caused the mismatch.
When physical quality is involved, define the affected inventory, supplier lot, inspection method, disposition, and replacement control. Do not use a content edit to mask a product problem or remove warnings that customers need.
Run a controlled corrective-action check
- Document the hypothesis, affected ASINs, completed change, owner, date, validation method, and rollback condition.
- Measure return and review signals with sales volume, traffic, inventory, price, promotion, and fulfillment changes in context.
- Inspect new returns against the same issue taxonomy instead of relying only on the dashboard label.
- Keep unaffected variations out of the change unless the evidence shows a shared cause.
- Close the action only after customer evidence and operating checks support the recovery.
Scope and exceptions
Voice of the Customer is a diagnostic and prioritization tool; it does not replace Account Health appeals, product-safety investigations, restricted-product workflows, or formal quality testing. A poor signal may require action even when the product remains active.
Review the live dashboard and Amazon's current [Voice of the Customer update](https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/760f7271-a188-48a2-85b4-3ba4ee31ed6c) before deciding. Available metrics, comparison groups, translations, and actions can differ by marketplace and account.
