How do you reconcile an Amazon FBA removal order?
Freeze the approved removal scope, record the order ID and destination, and create a unit bridge from requested quantity to canceled, shipped, received, disposed, liquidated, or unresolved quantity. Close the order only when unit status and financial records agree.
A removal request is not the final outcome. Inventory can move in separate shipments and statuses, so the seller needs the order detail, carrier evidence, receiving record, and settlement activity in one control.
Approve the removal scope before submission
- Identify marketplace, fulfillment center inventory owner, ASIN, FNSKU, SKU, condition, fulfillable or unfulfillable quantity, inventory age, and reason for removal.
- Choose return, disposal, liquidation, donation, or another available method only after comparing recovery value, fees, storage avoided, time, brand risk, and downstream handling.
- Verify the return address, contact, receiving capacity, and any product restrictions before submitting.
- Record the approved quantity and unit value as the immutable starting point for reconciliation.
- Save the current fee and eligibility source instead of copying an old rate into the operating procedure.
Build the removal unit bridge
For each line, calculate requested units minus canceled units minus completed disposition units minus units received at the return location. The remainder is the open population that needs a shipment, status, or support explanation.
Match Amazon's removal order detail to shipment or tracking records and warehouse receipts by FNSKU and quantity. Record shortages, overages, unexpected condition, wrong item, missing accessories, and damaged returns at intake with dated photos and packaging evidence.
Reconcile fees and recovery
- Match removal, disposal, liquidation, shipping, or other displayed charges to the order and settlement period.
- Record resale, refurbishment, supplier return, liquidation proceeds, scrap value, tax effects, and external handling costs separately.
- Open an evidence-backed case only for a reproducible unit or financial discrepancy and include the order ID, line, status, shipment, receipt, and calculation.
- Do not count a support promise as recovery; close the financial exception only after the adjustment appears and reconciles.
- Feed realized recovery and processing time back into future inventory exit decisions.
Scope and exceptions
Removal availability, eligible methods, cancellation behavior, processing time, destination rules, and fees vary by inventory condition and marketplace. Do not assume that an order can be canceled after processing begins or that all units will travel together.
Use the current removal-order workflow and [Removal Order Detail report guidance](https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/external/G201436560?locale=en-US) shown in your Seller Central account. Automated removals, donations, liquidation, Grade and Resell, and recalls can create separate records that should not be merged without an identifier match.
