Measure the Balance Between Paid and Organic Amazon Sales

Track how advertising and non-ad sales contribute to total SKU growth without assigning every change to one channel.

Avoid treating organic sales as free

Organic orders can still depend on inventory, pricing, reviews, listing quality, promotions, and earlier marketing. They do not carry a direct click charge, but they are supported by the broader operating system around the product.

Build a weekly demand view

  • Total ordered units and net sales by SKU.
  • Ad-attributed units, sales, and spend.
  • Estimated non-ad units and sales for the same period.
  • Contribution profit after advertising and promotions.
  • Inventory availability and major listing or price changes.

Look for durable movement

A short organic lift during a heavy discount does not prove a lasting change. Review the weeks after the campaign and check whether non-ad sales, conversion, and profit remain stronger once the temporary incentive is removed.

Scale the profitable combination

The goal is not to eliminate paid sales. It is to find the mix of advertising, price, content, and inventory that produces stable total profit. Increase spend when the combined result improves within the SKU's cash and margin limits.
